Infrastructure

The NMC also offers facilities to support the research community at large. The Demonstration & Competence Lab offers support for method validation and demonstration, feasibility and (pre)clinical studies. The Data Support Platform provides expertise on data storage and retrieval and software tools for processing, analysis and interpretation of metabolomics data.

Demonstration & Competence Lab

  • Led by Dr. Rob Vreeken
  • Central 'meeting point' of NMC for the (inter)national scientific community interested in access to state of the art metabolomics
  • Validation and implementation of various platforms focused on signalling molecules
  • Pipeline for metabolite identification
  • Platforms based on high throughput and high resolution analysis
  • Methods based on miniaturised systems using micro/nano fluidics
  • Demonstration and feasibility studies
  • Training and workshops (e.g. four-day hands-on metabolomics workshop)

Data Support Platform

  • Led by Dr. Margriet Hendriks
  • Building the data warehouse for the complete metabolomics workflow
  • Building blocks for:
    Data storage / retrieval / pre-processing
    Data processing / analysis
    Identification

    Interpretation
  • Pipeline, including database infrastructure, based on GRID and virtual lab infrastructure
  • Scientific programmers available for support
  • All in collaboration with the Netherlands BioInformatics Centre (NBIC)
